See, I have set before thee this day life and good, and death and evil; in that I command thee this day to love the LORD thy God, to walk in his ways, and to keep his commandments and his statutes and his judgments, that thou mayest live and multiply: and the LORD thy God shall bless thee in the land whither thou goest to possess it. But if thine heart turn away, so that thou wilt not hear, but shalt be drawn away, and worship other gods, and serve them; I denounce unto you this day, that ye shall surely perish, and that ye shall not prolong your days upon the land, whither thou passest over Jordan to go to possess it. I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live: that thou mayest love the LORD thy God, and that thou mayest obey his voice, and that thou mayest cleave unto him: for he is thy life, and the length of thy days: that thou mayest dwell in the land which the LORD sware unto thy fathers, to Abraham, to Isaac, and to Jacob, to give them.
Deuteronomy 30:15-20
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
John 3:16-18
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us. If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
1 John 1:8-9
Life or death.
Salvation or condemnation.
Hope or despair, Light or Darkness
BEING FOUND OR REMAINING LOST.
Choose you this day.
We often find the gospel so hard to speak of. It is not so hard to tell others about it.
We are all sinners. We fail. We will continue to fail. In and of ourselves we cannot save ourselves.
But God’s grace and love and hid mercy has afforded us the opportunity to choose life.
Two roads, one is wide and leads rhe worng way. The other is narrow but directly leads us to eternal life.
Forgiveness, joy, peace and reconciliation with God. This means we do not have to suffer for our weakness and sin. This menas we have access to heaven.
Jesus took upon himself our shame and guilt, our inability to be faithful. He bore our iniquities. His blood on the cross offers us a permanent write off.
His blood blotted out our debt. Our blame he took on himself.
Hey, this is a reason to celebrate. A reason to pick ourselves up and look to the heavens.
Anxiety can flee. Despair be gone. Fear is no more. Jesus won the war for us.
Our battle is the Lord’s. His victory is ours!
Rejoice for we have the covering we need to enter in to the Wedding with the Bridegroom.
He clothes us in righteousness. His light shines and makes us beautiful. His diadem of love he has placed on iur head. He has decked us with gladness. The pearls we wear are his grace.
Our veil is the very radiance of His Spirit on us.
Halleluyah! A few reasons to look up and be joyful this night.
