Oh No! I Spilled It!

This is how it went. The mug tipped. The coffee spilled. The plan went out the window.
The process began, the energy level had to rise. Frustration started to creep in.
Then the thought came. Lord, perhaps this is a good mishap. Perhaps this will work out for the good.
So, I began to listen to some recording of my pastor. As I cleaned the wall, the floor, the table and the kitchen, I listened. The teaching was about truth and about how eaxh person tells the story of events according to their own prejudices and their personal experiences.
History proves that kings wrote about their victories but rarely sis they speak about their defeats. Unless it was to highlight how after being attacked they made a comeback and gained ground and won.
The truth is mishaps happen in life. We mess up. We change as time goes on. We grow if we allow ourselves to be tempered and placed un the furnace of purification.
A Potter is an artisan that works with clay. When my kids were little, I home schooled my children. So, I was always researching and finding ways for them to learn new things and have rewarding and productive experiences.
We decided to go to take pottery classes.
We worked with prefabricated items, as well as, with forming clay.
The amazing thing was that, we had the experiences. We made some cool things. And at other times, the process was grueling, frustrating and exhausting. Especially when one item could take several weeks to complete.
Potters have to soend their days in the muck. They have to form the clay. Press the clay, Shape the clay. At times they must redissolve the clay and add more water. It seems to take forever. Yet the Potter knows how and when the clay is ready to take form. He knows how and when it is ready to be tempered. This is done at times by adding sand or ground stone or crushed sea shells. Another process takes putting the ceramics in an oven. Sometimes the process takes several times of heating in order to cause it to be ready to use.
I’m reminded that God is our Potter. We are His clay. I am not the one who knows myself so well that I can choose how to go through this life.
I make mistakes. I crumble. I can be mistaken and choose poorly someimes and at other times I am able to choose wisely.
The process of life is painstaking and time consuming.
Yet, I will tell you, I am not the Potter.
I am in God’s hands.
This is a wonderful thought.
WHEN I consider God’s Word, I am led to seek God’s leading. He guides and leads. He allows and he even will cause pressures to come in order to perfect his image in me.
I CAN TRUST HIM.
HE HAS THE PLAN
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.
Jeremiah 29:11
Lead me, O LORD, in your righteousness because of my enemies; make your way straight before me.
Psalms 5:8
Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.
Psalm 119:105
Sometimes we bite off more than we can chew. Sometimes we think a certain decision is best only to find out it was not the best at all.
But trusting in the Lord gives us hope. It causes us to walk in faith knowing what the Apostle Paul wrote, is true,
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.”
Romans 8:28
Being young once and now being much older, I have learned that our mistakes are taken by God in such a way, that he uses them to help shape us. Nothing stops his purpose with us.
Perhaps the coffee spilled to remind me that, I am still a work in progress. And that the areas in my life where I see the spills are places the Lord is cleaning up and making nice and fresh and new again.
The Best part of this is also knowing what God reminds us of.
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Philippians 1:6
I just have to put on the whole armour of God every day and allow Him to lead, guide, teach and help me walk in the steps He has already prepared for me.
I pray that this encourages you today.
So, I leave you with these last thoughts,
But you are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, His own special people, that you may proclaim the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His marvelous light;
1 Peter 2:9
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things. What you have learned and received and heard and seen in me—practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you.
Philippians 4:8-9
Thank you Lord that You Are The Potter
