THE ROLE IS SPECIFIC – We are To Shine and Bring Hope

This society is fixed on fitting in. All being part of a whole. The problem is that the more confused the norm becomes, the more perverted things become.
The things the world deems as fun and recreational in many instances offends the God of Heaven. What mankind approves of God disapproves.
What men say is great, is a demonstration of their wayward hearts and their rebellion.

So when our children ask, We ought to explain what the Scriptures say about how we are not to go with the flow.

Therefore “Come out from among them And be separate, says the Lord. Do not touch what is unclean, And I will receive you.” “I will be a Father to you, And you shall be My sons and daughters, Says the Lord Almighty.”
II Corinthians 6:17 – 18

We do not follow the crowd that is slowly falling further and further away from the Lord.
We are those that have the life jackets and the lifesavers for those who are drowning in the ocean of sin. We are to be lifeguards, as it were. We ought not to go deeper and deeper with those that perish but rather, we are the lifelines to grace. We are the conduits of mercy.
We have been called from darkness in to light. We have been pulled out of the grip of being cast off and we have been saved.
Our role is to be that light, the beacon for others to also be rescued from the sea of despair.

The anchor holds us close to shore. We have the line of Jesus which holds us tightly but gives us the necessary line to go and rescue others. Our lives are to pull and point and guide and lead others in to the shore of grace.

The Holy Spirit is our life Jacket. The Lord will not fail. Therefore, we can be assured that He who began a good work will be faithful to complete it.

Your mission and mine is clear.

And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned.
Mark 16:15‭-‬16

We go hoping to reach some if not all. But the choice is theirs.
There is salvation for those who come and hold on and receive the line. But some will perish.

So, let’s get this right.
You are not supposed to fit in. As a child of God we tend to stand out. Never fitting in the the norms of society.
Culturally, we will not be like those who continue in thier traditions in all things. We will leave those things that are in our culture that offends the Lord.  We have a new citizenship,  a City in the Heavens.

For our country is in heaven; from where the Saviour for whom we are waiting will come, even the Lord Jesus Christ:
Philippians 3:20

We are different, odd, strange… to the world. The Bible says we are Peculiar people….

But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light; 1 Peter 2:9

We are called to behave in a different way than the world.
We do not laugh at the same jokes. Especially when the jokes offend God. We are not to belittle others. We are supposed to even care for those who hate us. Our speech is different and our actions reflect we have been brought out of darkness.
We do not partake of the same sins… Their dancing to worldy sensual music, the provocative attire they wear, the places they go etc. The recreational times that include substances and things injested that alter the mental state. We are to differ from the world. For us none of this is fitting.

When we are mistreated, and put down, marginalized and rejected by some, we count it as all joy. Because we are participating in the sufferings of Christ.

Beloved, do not think it strange concerning the fiery trial which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened to you; but rejoice to the extent that you partake of Christ’s sufferings, that when His glory is revealed, you may also be glad with exceeding joy. If you are reproached for the name of Christ, blessed are you, for the Spirit of glory and of God rests upon you. On their part He is blasphemed, but on your part He is glorified.
I Peter 4:12‭-‬14

“But I say to you who hear: Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, and pray for those who spitefully use you. To him who strikes you on the one cheek, offer the other also. And from him who takes away your cloak, do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who asks of you. And from him who takes away your goods do not ask them back. And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise. “But if you love those who love you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners love those who love them. And if you do good to those who do good to you, what credit is that to you? For even sinners do the same. And if you lend to those from whom you hope to receive back, what credit is that to you? For even sinners lend to sinners to receive as much back. But love your enemies, do good, and lend, hoping for nothing in return; and your reward will be great, and you will be sons of the Most High. For He is kind to the unthankful and evil. Therefore be merciful, just as your Father also is merciful.
Luke 6:27‭-‬36

We are weird to others. They look at us and the glory of God and his presence draws those that are to be saved. And makes those who are not God’s people, very uncomfortable.

When those who live in darkness come around us, or when we walk in to a place, the light of Jesus causes some to feel exposed. Sometimes we have not even spoken a word.
We are children of Light.

Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Mathew 5:14

So, being different is the platform the Lord affords us to be light and salt.

It is not a negative. It is a positive.
Living For The Lord and drawing others to His Marvelous Light is our mission as children of God.

Jesus is calling us to be those lines, those lifelines for others.

Then He said to them, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.”
Matthew 4:19

This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, and which enters the Presence behind the veil, where the forerunner has entered for us, even Jesus, having become High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.
Hebrews 6:19‭-‬20

So, its is good to be anchored in God. Secure and sure is our election. We are different. It is an honor to serve the Lord.  We can understand, we are not alone. We are secure and as we serve the Lord we will bring others to the shore. Since Christ Jesus tore the separation, He has given us access to his Love, Mercy and Grace.
