Where Is Your Treasure Kept?

Where is Your Treasure Kept?

Where is your treasure stored?
Where is the inheritance that cannot be corrupted?
Can we take it with us when we pass on to eternity?
Or are we like the egyptian mummies, being buried in earthly wealth never t be used again?

Mathew 16: 26 For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Luke 9: 25 For what is a man advantaged, if he gain the whole world, and lose himself, or be cast away?

Mathew 8: 36 For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? 37 Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

Luke 12: 15 And he said unto them, Take heed, and beware of covetousness: for a man’s life consisteth not in the abundance of the things which he possesseth. 16 And he spake a parable unto them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: 17 And he thought within himself, saying, What shall I do, because I have no room where to bestow my fruits? 18 And he said, This will I do: I will pull down my barns, and build greater; and there will I bestow all my fruits and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast much goods laid up for many years; take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. 20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? 21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God. 22 And he said unto his disciples, Therefore I say unto you, Take no thought for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on. 23 The life is more than meat, and the body is more than raiment. 24 Consider the ravens: for they neither sow nor reap; which neither have storehouse nor barn; and God feedeth them: how much more are ye better than the fowls?

We have worried far to long about our economic wealth. We have considered tomorrow as a place where we can project our wealth and somehow plan for a free ride in the future.
We have dotted our “I’s ” and placed all our cards on the table. The ducks seem to be all well aligned.
Somehow we thought calamity would not touch us.
But we have been fooled.

The Bible says tomorrow is promised to no man. What so ever a man soweth is what he shall also reap.
We have laid out seeds to ourselves. We have thought that a bigger retirement account will carry us through…
Then the call comes…
There is a dark shadow on your lung…
There is a diagnosis, cancer.
The call comes you have lost your spouse…
Your child is gone…
You had thought all was well with your stocks…the market crashes…

Where have I sown my seeds?
What kinds of seeds have I sown?
Were they the kind that are blown away with the wind or trampled under foot?
Were they planted in fertile soil?

All the time in the world cannot be enough to make up for lost time. Broken bonds of relationships are what are left when we sow to our earthly wealth.
Lucre… mula… the candy has now become sour on the tongue. No pleasure for your time is spent in worry.

Lord! Lord! Jesus! Awaken the man from his stupor! Awaken the woman who has placed all her trust in that man! Awaken in us the heart to store up our treasures in heaven.
We have planted too long a time for our outcome to be wasted.
Lord, teach us to value and number our days.
For it is appointed to every person once to die, and then the judgment.

Lord let the verdict for my life be clear….
Let me live a life that is transparent.
Cause me to sow seeds of kindness, love and charity. Cause me to grow seeds of self control and a trust in you for my provision.
Lord, do not let greed cloud my thinking.
Let me not be proud or boastful….
Cause me to glean from your wisdom and gain the wherewithal to sow in the Spirit.

Draw me close and cause me to serve you diligently. May I bloom where you place me. And may the abundance of your peace guide me through all of life’s troubles. May your joy be my strength. May the hope of my treasure be in this earthen vessel called my heart. Let me grow wealth of a spiritual kind.

Let me number each blessing and in gratitude proclaim your sovereignty over my life.
For Jesus is my greatest treasure.
