My Child, We face so many things that oppose our position in Christ. This world is always in total contrast to what pleases God. We are surrounded constantly by the things that pull our focus and attention.
But when we are so tempted, we have clear direction. We are to flee. Get out of there. Do not be in a position where we can give an occasion for our flesh to sin.
No, we do not have to stay and falter. We have been empowered by God’s word and His Holy Spirit to know when to fight and engage in warfare through Prayer and Fasting and worship and praise. And at other times we are taught by the Word, to flee, run, move out. Remove ourselves from that position where we can fail. No point in weakening our defenses.
If we adhere to the Word, we will know when to move and when to strik, when to pray and when to escape.
No weapon formed against you shall prosper. No attack of the enemy can keep you down. You are more than a conqueror in Christ Jesus.
Our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the power of darkness and wickedness.
But running this race means, we stand firm on our faith.
We put on the whole armour of God. Ephesians 6.
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Ephesians 6:10-13
It means we know our position. We are the Redeemed of the Lord. We are the apple of his eye. We have been washed in the Blood of Jesus.
We flee from temptation and run to the Father.
We live Holy lives and stray away from those things that lead us to perdition. We cling to the one who alone can Save. Jesus is our Armour. We put on Christ.
But put on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make no provision for the flesh, to gratify its desires. Romans 13:14
So God’s word is able to keep us and guide us and be a shield in days of trouble.
This prayer is one you can use when facing these moments.
We find all we need in the Word. I chose this Common English version to make it clearer.
How can young people keep their paths pure? By guarding them according to what you’ve said. I have sought you with all my heart. Don’t let me stray from any of your commandments! I keep your word close, in my heart, so that I won’t sin against you. You, LORD, are to be blessed! Teach me your statutes. I will declare out loud all the rules you have spoken. I rejoice in the content of your laws as if I were rejoicing over great wealth. I will think about your precepts and examine all your paths. I will delight in your statutes; I will not forget what you have said.
Psalms 119:9-16 CEB
