Don’t Go Back There

Too often people are not able to heal because they have sought help in the wrong places.

Godly counsel is better than the counsel of those who are without the faith.

The heart of man was created by the God who can understand where we are and how to heal us.

Do not remember the former things, Nor consider the things of old. Behold, I will do a new thing, Now it shall spring forth; Shall you not know it? I will even make a road in the wilderness And rivers in the desert.
Isaiah 43:18‭-‬19

There is a practice in Psychology and in Counseling that engages a person to recall the past. This is only to be used when necessary and when working with changing one’s negative narratives of a painful past.
This is not a healing practice on the day to day.

You see God’s word tells us the very opposite.  It tells us to look to the hills from where our help comes from. Psalm 121:1-2
It tells us to think on those things which are pure and lovely and honest of good report…
Philippians 4:8.
It tells us to look to the heavens Because The heavens declare the glory of God and the firmament shows his handiwork. Psalm 19:1

In today’s circles we have way too many people asking others to make bare their souls and minds without the proper training to treat the outcomes.
People that are unskilled can actually harm others by causing repeated trauma.

In some cases I have seen, a person can be further harmed by going back and recalling their past. Especially when that past has been detrimental to their wellbeing.

We cannot tell all to those who have no solid  ground to help us. This can actually make matters worst.

In some cases I have had someone tell me their past and I have had to refer them for counseling to another counselor who specializes in Professional Trauma counseling, because it is not safe to speak of things that can bring about an emotional breakdown.
Not all specialize in Trauma Counseling.

In some cases I have been able to counsel and assist some and with coming to terms with their pain then work on skills to manage negative emotions. But with those deeply wounded there sometimes is a need to go to someone who is able to help them come out of that state of trauma.

Personally, after years of suffering I was given counsel by a person who made me relive many horrible experiences over again. It was not until a dear friend said, “It is almost like they must enjoy the telling of your suffering.”
This woke me up. They were right.

The best thing I did was seek professional help. After a time, the counseling needed and then I was able to move on.
But I had to totally disassociate my connection to this toxic person who simply wanted to hear about my past.

Vicariously, many folks live through the lives of others.
This is like witchcraft.

The Bible teaches us that when we come to Christ we are new creations. We are born again and old things are past away.

The enemy comes to kill steal and destroy. He comes to invite us in to being lost in a past by bringing ideas that appear to be good things but actually do not help us but harm us. It’s like a hypnosis, Repeating trauma that can cause a person to remain trapped in thei pain. Going through life with not true healing.

In therapy, going back in to the thoughts to discover, is one thing to reach the origin of the struggles. But remaining in that place and being told things like you will meet your Guardian angel or your past loved ones is all part of witchcraft.

We are called to walk in newness of life.
Jesus came to seek and to save. He is Jehovah Rapha our Healer. He is the Prince of Peace, Jehovah Shalom. He is our burden bearer.
He says, Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.”
Matthew 11:28

Jesus on the main line… Come to the One Who Is Able to Save, Heal and Restore.

Please study the word of God. Do not fall for the strategies the enemy has to destroy believers and lead thm astray.
In Jesus there is freedom, healing, strength and hope for tomorrow.  In him we know we are truly loved.
He wipes our slate clean. A new beginning so we can have Christ transform our weeping in to dancing.
Don’t fall for the trap.
Rea h out for the truth. Jesus came to restore us and renew us.

The enemy is in the habit of pointing out our past to keep us down.
Jesus is the one who our Salvation from sin, from a painful past. He can bring light in to the darkness we may have gone through. Come  to him and move forward.

Psychotherapy that involves a moving forward and past the pain is healthy. Therapy tha engages a person in going back to find hope is futile.
