A man’s heart plans his way, But the Lord directs his steps.
Proverbs 16:9
And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose.
Romans 8:28
Life is full of ups and downs. There are days of planning and executing plans with success. Then there are days that seem to go all wrong if we are considering man’s perspective.
Yet, the older I get, the closer I come to understand that the Lord truly orders our steps. He knows best.
He knows where and with whom, when and at the precise moment that things need to occur in order to fulfill his divine plan in our lives.
Things are not arbitrary when you are truly a believer. God, however, ordains our steps. As we face life and seem to believe that some great stumble was to our detriment, it is the Lord who uses the rough and tough moments, the difficult times to form his image in us.
He is the Potter. We truly are his clay. His love for us will not allow us to fall so deep that he cannot reach us.
His love for us will not allow a hard time to be a waste.
You see, as we go through loss and through pain, which are all part of our experience as a result of Adam’s sin, he orchestrates how these times will shape us and bring us to his presence.
It is when we face loss that we find Him to be our Comforter and consolation. It is when we face Adversity and trials that we mature in our walk of faith.
The flight was planned. Months in advance the trip was set for a specific time. We had our bags packed. Then the airline cancelled our flights.

There was a storm that came and hindered many flights. Sadness, disappointment and frustration as we tried to book another flight. No Refund!!!
Non refundable?
Wow, talk about things seemingly going wrong.
My heart yearns to visit with my loved ones. But the Lord knows what He is doing. He does not allow His children to proceed unless it is for our ultimate good.
Even each trial has an expiration date. Each tear has an appointed.
He is ordering our steps. When we are cognizant of God’s sovereignty we do not fret. When we understand He is the Author of our days, we eventually come to terms with the fact that He knows best.
No, I am not saying that we are always going to just go with the flow. I was not wearing a blank smile when the flights were cancelled.
I was very much affected at the moment. But as I thought on the goodness of God and His Faithfulness to me in the past, I became aware that He has good plans for my life.
Jeremiah 29:11-13 says,
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, says the Lord, thoughts of peace and not of evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon Me and go and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. And you will seek Me and find Me, when you search for Me with all your heart.
So here I am Lord. You know best. Mend our broken hearts and restore to us the knowledge that you are good. In every circumstance you are faithful. In every moment your thoughts for us are for good.
So, I know you have a purpose, even if I did not see this coming, you know it was. You determined how and why, when and with whom…
This brings me peace. I don’t have to know everything. You are in control. You have the best outcome planned for your children.
Absence makes the heart grow fonder.
Are you causing us to truly desire to be together and understand the blessing it is to share moments together?
Or is there some specific mission I need to accomplish while I am elsewhere?
Cause my heart not to be discouraged. Cause me to be open to your leading.
I can still say, It Is Well With My Soul.
So, if today, things did not pan out how you planned…
If life seems to be going in a direction you never thought it would…
If you don’t seem to be in control…
Cry out to the one Who orders our steps.
Ask Him to reveal to you his purpose.
Lord, if there is some lesson I need to learn, or a person I need to be there for, make me aware. Help me to be present and not so invested in what I Thought was supposed to happen.
You are the One Who Knows Best.
Let me be present in this moment to comprehend your plan and to be able to trust you for the outcome.
Perhaps I am to be a blessing. Or perhaps you have a lesson for me. In any case I am yours and in your hands.
