The Called Are Able to Stand
Because They Stand Not Alone But With The Lord.
Published by Deborah Negron M.A.
May you excel in all you do to the glory of God. May you recognize your amazing purpose in Him. These are words I share with my Abi Natalia and with some of my nieces and nephews.
The called and chosen are often those who seemingly, have to stand alone. In the midst of a perverse nation. They may have to be the odd ball, The fifth wheel or the one who does not quite laugh at the jokes of the world. They may be different. Remember you are light in the darkened world.
The called often find themselves at odds with the going trends or the common expectations of those around them. They do not go with the flow of unbelievers. They choose to live Holy.
Daniel,
Moses,
Shadrach, Meshac and Abednego,
Paul,
Ruth,
Esther,
Jeremiah,
Isaiah…
All examples of this.
All walked against the current.
Like salmon swimming upwards instead of following the downward current.
They have a clear purpose and objective.
When they reach their destination they will breed new life, a new generation. They find their mates.
If they pursue their God designed plan, they have hope. If they fail, they do not.

We too need to have our focus on things above. Our objective is to live a life with our God given talents and abilities in such a way that we please the Lord.
Whether it’s being a good employee with a work ethic, a good team player, a friendly neighbor, a good student or a good son or daughter; we are to do all we do to honor the Lord.
We may be bombarded by the pull of the world, loneliness, depression, feelings of inadequacy or feeling empty. But scripture tells us,
That the joy of the Lord will be our strength…
Nehemiah 8:10
You have shown me the path to life, and you make me glad by being near to me. Sitting at your right side, I will always be joyful.
Psalms 16:11
The Lord will protect you and keep you safe from all dangers. The Lord will protect you now and always wherever you go.
Psalms 121:7-8
You are tempted in the same way that everyone else is tempted. But God can be trusted not to let you be tempted too much, and he will show you how to escape from your temptations.
1 Corinthians 10:13
… I, the Lord , created you and formed you…
I have rescued you. I have called you by name; now you belong to me. When you cross deep rivers, I will be with you, and you won’t drown. When you walk through fire, you won’t be burned or scorched by the flames.
Isaiah 43:1 – 2.
We can choose to think in positive and fulfilling ways.
Finally, brothers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things.
Philippians 4:8
Daniel chose to never stop praying to the God of Israel, the one true God. He did not bow down to the idols before him. He prayed daily and God shut the mouths of the lions in that Lion’s den.
Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego chose to remain separate and not follow the king’s decree to worship a statue.
that when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, you are to fall down and worship the golden image that King Nebuchadnezzar has set up. And whoever does not fall down and worship shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace.” Nebuchadnezzar answered and said to them, “Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, that you do not serve my gods or worship the golden image that I have set up? Now if you are ready when you hear the sound of the horn, pipe, lyre, trigon, harp, bagpipe, and every kind of music, to fall down and worship the image that I have made, well and good. But if you do not worship, you shall immediately be cast into a burning fiery furnace. And who is the god who will deliver you out of my hands?” Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego answered and said to the king, “O Nebuchadnezzar, we have no need to answer you in this matter. If this be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of your hand, O king. But if not, be it known to you, O king, that we will not serve your gods or worship the golden image that you have set up.”
Daniel 3:5-6, 14-18
In the midst of Adversity they remained faithful to the Lord.
We too can remain focused and make the difference in our neck of the woods or the city.
