The Purpose of Knowledge and Understanding

100 I understand more than the ancients, because I keep thy precepts. 101 I have refrained my feet from every evil way, that I might keep thy word. 102 I have not departed from thy judgments: for thou hast taught me. 103 How sweet are thy words unto my taste! yea, sweeter than honey to my mouth! 104 Through thy precepts I get understanding: therefore I hate every false way.
NUN 105 Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path.
111 Thy testimonies have I taken as an heritage for ever: for they are the rejoicing of my heart.
126 It is time for thee, Lord, to work: for they have made void thy law. 127 Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold. 128 Therefore I esteem all thy precepts concerning all things to be right; and I hate every false way.
6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.
17 Bow down thine ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply thine heart unto my knowledge. 18 For it is a pleasant thing if thou keep them within thee; they shall withal be fitted in thy lips. 19 That thy trust may be in the Lord, I have made known to thee this day, even to thee. 20 Have not I written to thee excellent things in counsels and knowledge, 21 That I might make thee know the certainty of the words of truth; that thou mightest answer the words of truth to them that send unto thee?
11 Verily, verily, I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testify that we have seen; and ye receive not our witness. 12 If I have told you earthly things, and ye believe not, how shall ye believe, if I tell you of heavenly things? 13 And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven. 14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: 15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. 16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life. 17 For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. 18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
The knowledge we have is not of ourselves. We have been given the privilege of growing up in a culture where there is democracy. We have been given the opportunity to hear the Gospel and retain it as truth. Not only this, but we have also, the privilege and duty to impart what we have learned to those who have not yet heard.
Sunday school is great. But our role as parents is to teach these truth to our children.
We cannot allow the other parts of society in a democratic system infiltrate the minds of our children and have them take the truths of our faith as yet one more belief out of many.
Jesus said, ” I am way, the truth and the Life.”
He also said, ” I am the Bread of Life.”
He also stated that it was impossible to have a relationship with the Father and somehow bypass him.
The Word of God is a powerful tool in the hands of the Believer. Well applied, it can tear down the walls of falshood. It can equip our lttle ones to be ready for the innundating thoughts, ideas and suggestions fed to them through, media, television, the internet, music, radio,etc.,.
As parents we have the sole responsabiltiy to dress them each morning. We feed them a good meal before we send them off to the institutions of knowledge all across our great nation. We have the gift of education afforded to them by gifted men and women who have chosen this path as their profession.
We thank God for many who have made it their life mission to become educators and those who impart knowlwdge to the generation coming up. Those who have godly principles and understand the truth.
Yet we as parents, have to be guarded because not every educator has a knowledge and understanding of faith and a relationship with Christ. For some, their agendas go far beyond the classroom. These inject our children with humanistic ideas and theories that begin to cause our children to doubt the faith and beliefs of their parents.
We have an entire generation of children that have grown up in the last two decades with no concept of God.
These are easily identified. They may be professional or may have had some successes but feel empty depressed and without purpose. We find many in the therapists office speaking of how they want to find true happiness. They long for more in life. Some have exhauseted every avenue. Now they are barren. Dry and brokenhearted without having the truth in them. They do not know God. They have not learned that God sent his Son, Jesus to give us an understanding of our true Identity and purpose.
Today we see a generation being taught about the very confusion these poor souls have had. Their confusion about purpose, identity, the lack for the meaning of life and their poorly founded ideas of regret and dissatisfaction is being the influence placed and this new generation. The children today face those who have no moral standing. Their agenda is confused and arrogant. They believe that have knowledge and yet what they offer is elusive and incapable of bringing true joy.
Academic education alone cannot save the soul of man.
Wealth and position alone cannot meet the intrinsic need found in every living soul. A confused idea of self cannot restore a person.
There is a puzzle piece missing…
There is a place where only the truth of the cross and the love of Christ Jesus can fit in… like a peg in a hole.
Man was created to connect with God. God has a genuine purpose for each life.
Jeremiah 29:11 says God knows the plans he has for you. If we do not know our Creator how can we know the way. If we do not read the manual how can we operate effectively.
An athiest in his death bed has been heard whispering Oh God, help me.
A business man with cancer has been seen grasping at the priests hand asking to be forgiven for all his sins.
In contrast, a little old grandmother surrounded by her children and family has been calm, collected and secure, as she says, “Don’t, Worry I will see you soon. But, I go to the arms of my Jesus. I am fine.”
The man without a penny who has lost it all still walks with a spring in his step as he says, “I know my Redeemer liveth.”
The abandoned child has grown up with the love of God and is now adopting children and giving them a home. The words she tells them, ring clear…. God loves us all.
The purpose of attaining knowledge is so that we can lead others to the truth of God’s love and foriveness through Christ Jesus. He will be the very one who can sustain us in the day of trouble. He is the bread to feed our hungry hearts. He is the water for the dry and desperate soul.
Share the knowledge, share God’s love.
Let others know that God so loves them He gave himself for their freedom. He offers purpose, wisdom, stability, peace and strength in the midst of life’s storms.
