Proverbs 22:6
Train up a child in the way he should go; even when he is old he will not depart from it.

Now the boy Samuel continued to grow both in stature and in favor with the Lord and also with man.
1 Samuel 2:26

And Jesus increased in wisdom and in stature and in favor with God and man.
Luke 2:52 ESV

Lord this prayer is for every parent…
For every person granted the gift and responsability to raise children.

Lord that we would do as your word says in Deuteronomy 11:18-19

“Imprint these words of mine on your hearts and minds, bind them as a sign on your hands, and let them be a symbol on your foreheads. Teach them to your children, talking about them when you sit in your house and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”

Lord, that we would understand the great task and tremble with fear and reverence before you. May we understand the necessity to train up our children in the way that you have already designed for them.
May they fulfill the will of our Heavenly Father.

May we have the knowledge to learn what gifts and abilities you have given them and be able to foster in them the desire to grow in skill and dexterity, in wisdom and in capacity in what you have placed in each one. Each has been lent to us. Father give us the wherewithal to raise them up for you.

Lord, I pray we would have the wherewithal to wean our children on your word. That the good milk of the gospel would be given to them as they grow to the age of reasoning and bring able to then feed themselves. That the word of God would be so fed to them, that it would be part of their way of thinking and life.
That they would see the love of God in tangible ways in how we reason, act and make the decisions in our lives. That the word of God would become as sweet honey to them and they would desire it above all else. Lord that the familiarity of the word of God would be so intertwined in their thought process that they would do all they do for your glory, desiring to please you above all else.

Lord, that they would grow in stature, developing well physically, emotionally and spiritually and socially. Lord, that others will be positively influenced by their words and deeds.
Lord, that they would grow up to be the head and not the tail. Lord, that our children will have the understanding to walk in those steps that you have already prepared for them since before the foundation of the world.

Lord, that as Samuel, whom you raised up to take the place of the corrupt priests, Hophni and Phinehas the sons of Eli.
So, our children will take the place of those in society that take advantage of others.
That our children will stand for truth in diverse places. Wherever you call them too, may they lift up a standard of righteousness and truth.

May our children go further, higher, deeper and more fully in faith and truth.

Oh Lord, this is my prayer.
This is our prayer. Lord Thatcher would be servants that raise up children that would honor you.

Lord, for those of us who have failed in the past, for those of us who have not been whom we ought to have been before. Give us the grace to begin today to be men and women who will change and be moved to straighten our crooked paths and seek you even now for your mercy is great and you will hear our prayers for our children.
For those of us who may have failed along the way, let us be found in prayer crying out for our adult children. For you will not turn away a person who has a contrite heart and a broken spirit. I pray for every parent, Lord have mercy on us all.

Let us live before them an example God, for you

Reach our children. Touch them with your grace. Allow your love to reach them.
While there is still breath in our lungs and your ears that hear us, let us pray.

In the name of Jesus, Amen.
