However, the Most High doesn’t live in houses built by human hands. As the prophet says, Heaven is my throne, and the earth is my footstool. ‘What kind of house will you build for me,’ says the Lord, ‘or where is my resting place? Didn’t I make all these things with my own hand?’ But Stephen, enabled by the Holy Spirit, stared into heaven and saw God’s majesty and Jesus standing at God’s right side. He exclaimed, “Look! I can see heaven on display and the Human One standing at God’s right side!” At this, they shrieked and covered their ears. Together, they charged at him, threw him out of the city, and began to stone him. The witnesses placed their coats in the care of a young man named Saul. As they battered him with stones, Stephen prayed, “Lord Jesus, accept my life!”
Acts of the Apostles 7:48-50, 55-59
What Have We Tried To Give You?
Style, plush seating…
Technical perfection?
Skills and fancy accomodations?
What have we tried to claim, is for you?
We sit in auditoriums that are more lush than the palaces of kings. We claim to sing you praises, when we don’t even mention your name.
We sing of love and forgiveness,
We sing of mercy and some sort of grace.
We don’t sing of that love and embrace
that was bought by the Blood and Sacrifice We dont tell of that Cross,
No, Not of that place.
We speak of unending love…
As if it were some cliche.
We speak of a love
That has no bounds, but lacks repentance.
A love that requires nothing and seems to be
Vaguely accepting.
What of Calvary…
What of the Cross?
What of the Blood shed,
What of the loss?
It was for our Redemption.
It was for our sakes…
He died in our place…
For what we would have faced…
To cover our sin, yes, every last mistake.
It was for our Freedom
Jesus chose chose to die…
It was for our cleansing
To make us purified.
It was for our rebirth,
That He gave his life…
To take the place of the sinner,
Yes, you and I.
Oh, We hear of a gospel so vague
Without demands.
That gospel is not Truth.
It makes no sense.
For the Sacrifice of Christ,
Was to set the captive free.
But the gift cannot be taken
if it is not Believed.
Without repentance
and a tuning away from sin,
We cannot have entrance to the Kingdom
Of the King of kings.
Without a recognition of guilt and shame and and a solemn commitment
To walk with Him,
We cannot attain the blessings found,
In the place where His love abounds.
We must First be willing to say goodbye,
To all our wayward lifestyles.
We must surrender, to then receive,
The sweetest love and tenderness.
To come to Jesus we must first flee from sin.
Then ask Him to come within.
Then life changes and fear is gone
Boldness and His Power comes.
His Holy Spirit is now our own.
Enabling us to live for the Lord.
To live for Christ, away from sin.
Forgiveness comes, a joy and then,
A peace that floods our souls…
A strength to move in faith and trust.
The True Gospel sets us free.
It helps us live this we call Christianity.
It’s not religion but a relationship.
A daily walk of intimacy.
For now we live for Christ alone.
The God and Savior of us who come.
