Take up your Weapons and Fight…
It is Time to Stay Alert
Nehemiah 4
I wrote this a couple of years back…
12 And it came to pass, that when the Jews which dwelt by them came, they said unto us ten times, From all places whence ye shall return unto us they will be upon you. 13 Therefore set I in the lower places behind the wall, and on the higher places, I even set the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows. 14 And I looked, and rose up, and said unto the nobles, and to the rulers, and to the rest of the people, Be not ye afraid of them: remember the Lord, which is great and terrible, and fight for your brethren, your sons, and your daughters, your wives, and your houses.
Ephesians 6
12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. 13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
We may have just celebrated a victory. We may have just taken a rest and feel somehow accomplished. Good. This is goood.
But come now, let’s reeaso togethher for it is still time to rienforce our walls. It is time we consider that our work is still not done.
We must not let down our guard. We must be vigilant and dilligent to stay focused and alert.
We sometimmes walk as Christians who somehow have arrived. We praise a lot and sing a lot but worship little. We have a service and leave feeling we have done some great favor to God. We forget that we are to assemble together to gain knowledge and strength for the daily battles we face.
We are not homee yet. We are travelers passing through. Our home is in heaven. We are not to become so comfortable here we forget our main objective. We are to consider the game plan, the war strategy and then press on toward the high calling.
Ours is a talll order. We are to spread thegospel to all people, every generation and every kindred. We are to push back the powers of darkness with our best weapons. We are to worship and praise the Lord! We are not to focus on how well this warrior uses his talents and forget we mmust use our weapons as well. We are all in this together unto death.
We are to reach them and preach the word, give them the Bread of Life. We are to quench their thirst with the Liviing Water.
Stop focusing on the newest artist. Or how awesome this new apostle is. Focus on the Captain and press on!
We see Christians flock to become as spectators in an arena instead of warriors in the field of battle. We pay thousands of dollars to some christian artist to come and show us how to worship. Instead of bending our knees in our own prayer closets and offering our Lord our highest praise.
We are as goats that would. Eat anything and run to and fro for it. We are to be sheep. Sheep that recognize the voice of their Shepherd.
Yet we are to busy listening to all the newest prettiest voices.
We sit and act like the church on Sunday and run like the heathen on Monday through Saturday.
We go to casinos, drink liquor, curse up a storm and gossip forgetting the preaching. Then have to remember to go back the next Sunday to dress up as Religious folks.
Come on Church! Be the Church! Let’s work to be the light of thee world. We are supposed to be the Salt of the earth.
Cry out for your children, pray over your enemies. Call sin, sin and let us stop flirting with darkeness. He truth spoken in love transforms the world. But a half truth just leads souls to hell. If we say we serve the Lord, let us be different. Let us be excluded if they feel we are to holy. Let us be signaled out as a Jesus Freak.
If we confess Jesus, He we will speak of us to the Father interceding for you and me.
If we are not true believers. He will deny us.
We must stop trying so desperately to fit in.
Be vivgilant, be couragious! Stand for Jesus wherever you are. We will then be fighting for our familes and children, our brothers and sisters.
Pick up your sword! The Bible… know it well. It is a powerful weapon. Pray without ceasing and we will reap a harvest, the battle is the Lord’s.
We will see our lost loved ones return to Christ when we stand for them. When we bend the knee in worship and pray for their souls.
Put on the whole armor of God and let’s go do battle. We are on the winning side. We just must be ready and fight!
Focus on Jesus our Lord and Savior and draw others to Him.
The rest He has done and with the Holy Spirit we will prevail.
Fight, we are at war!
