The Conscious Decision
Romans 62 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? 3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? 4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection: 6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. 7 For he that is dead is freed from sin. 8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him: 9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him. 10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. 11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord. 12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof. 13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God. 14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.17 But God be thanked, that ye were the servants of sin, but ye have obeyed from the heart that form of doctrine which was delivered you. 18 Being then made free from sin, ye became the servants of righteousness.Sin shall have no dominion over me.
My choice – To walk in holiness.
My determination – a to serve the Lord with this free will given back un to me.When we were dead in our sins we were entangled by sin. It enslaved us.
It drew us further and further away from God. Now, having been made right with God, through, the acceptance and forgiveness alloted to us, when we turned away from our sin, that is, when we repented. The God given right to choose was once again afforded to us. God placed in our hands the freedom of choice, when we became born again. We have the power to choose to obey God; sinning no more because we have the wherewithal to say no to sin.
Or falling because we choose to ignore the Holy Spirit. As a believer the option to kill the flesh daily, is ours. As a child of God and a good soldier, we have been given tools for our usage.
We can either choose to utilize them or fail to do so and suffer the consequences.Ephesians 6
11 Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
Notice here, the scripture says Put On…
That is we have to exercise our will.
We have to make the choice to put on the whole armour of God daily. It is our responsibility to put it on. But we are not forced to do so.2 Corinthians 5:7
For we walk by faith, not by sight.
Here again, We Walk… The Verb here is walk. We decide to proceed. We decide to follow Christ daily. To trust and believe is our daily goal and decision. The choice for the believer is a conscious daily decision to pursue that which is right and pure and holy un to God.Romans 13 states,
12 The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armour of light. 13 Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying. 14 But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the lusts thereof.I love the ability afforded to us by God and his Holy Spirit. We are told here to cast off the works of darkness. We have the ability, the power and the GIFT OF CHOICE. We can PUT ON CHRIST!HE WHO was able to die for us willingly, Suffer abandonment, rejection, hatred, sorrow, shame, pain and death for us. Is the self same Lord who now is sitting at the right hand os the Father inteceding for us. Romans 8:34-35.We have a choice to live in victory because we have the power through Christ to do all things well.
Philippians 4:13Today, you and I have the choice to stand, to walk, to move freely without the bondage of sin. We have been afforded, through our salvation in Jesus Christ, the power to succeed in our walk of faith.Walk in it. Walk in truth. Live with the assurance you have been made right with God. Sin has no power over you. It can be decided. You decide. We can put on the righteousness of Jesus and be clothed in his light.Praise God!
