Mathew 7:20, 24
Yes, just as you can identify a tree by its fruit, so you can identify people by their actions.
“Anyone who listens to my teaching and follows it is wise, like a person who builds a house on solid rock.
Matthew
When asked a question we must think carefully about our responses.
For some, too quick to answer, they miss the opportunity to give an answer that can be a tool to witness.
We are often too quick to answer with what is convenient for the moment. Or maybe we say what makes us comfortable or what we prefer.
How about if we are asked What or How do you define yourself?
I define myself by what my life’s drive is.
I define myself by whom I represent.
I define myself by the thoughts that drive my decisions.
Lord, how do you want us to define ourselves?
What response would be the most true and transparent one for us, for you, for me?
Do I define myself by my ethnicity?
Do I define myself by the place I grew up in?
Do I define myself by my abilities, what I can do?
Lord, I want to define myself here and now, publicly. First and foremost I desire to Define myself by stating that the pivotal most important part of my life is my faith in Jesus Christ. This Faith drives everything that I do. The way I treat others is related to the principles of my faith. I Am To Love others as I love myself. Whether they are small or great, young or old, rich or poor, I am to love them.
For this reason I endeavor to strive to treat others with dignity and respect and show them compassion and mercy. I must forgive their shortcomings and think about their needs above my own. Since I myself have plenty of shortcomings.
I try to be transparent and though I may have some skills, I also have learned from my many mistakes. I Define myself as a Seeker and a Student for I have yet to learn much more.
I am a mother, daughter, grandmother, friend, sister, a singer and writer, a counselor, a teacher, a student, a lamb part of the Lord’s flock, But most of all, What I want to Define as is, I am a Servant and a child of God.
The Highest office I can hold is being a Servant who commits to the will of the Father and my obedience to the Son and led by God’s Holy Spirit in all I do and what I have done.
My desire is to made known the love of God to any and all who will listen or read or be willing to communicate. I simply want to define myself as His. I am the Lord’s. A servant for His purpose and for His glory.
And why is this how I want to be seen? It’s because of this unmerited favor my Lord has shown to me. Such mercy, forgiveness, such pardon and love. Jesus saved me from my brokenness and my sin and my failures and my losses. He gave me purpose and a destiny. His life he gave for mine. So, I choose to define myself as His servant and His child.
