My Own Decision
Psalm 17
1 Hear the right, O Lord, attend unto my cry, give ear unto my prayer, that goeth not out of feigned lips. 2 Let my sentence come forth from thy presence; let thine eyes behold the things that are equal. 3 Thou hast proved mine heart; thou hast visited me in the night; thou hast tried me, and shalt find nothing; I am purposed that my mouth shall not transgress.
I could sit and complain
Tell of all that has brought pain.
I am not exempt of calamity.
Nor am I in some shrouded pane…
I am not behind some window
Untouched by the severity of shame.
I too have struggled.
I too have failed.
But thinking about what matters…
Thinking of what really stands…
I must confess. I am blessed.
When you could have destroyed me
Lord, You showed mercy instead.
When my feet had strayed
you came to my rescue.
When fear was present
within and without,
you hid me in safety.
My decision is clear…
No longer to fear.
No longer to wallow
In my own pity.
I am blessed.
From my rising
to my going to rest
You sustain my life.
From the pit you drew me out.
You rescued me
From the evil that pursued me.
You restored to me joy.
I now live in peace.
This peace is not based
On external things…
Not on goings on,
Nor on happenings.
My peace is found
even in the midst of life’s storms.
My peace is present
when I step in to the unknown.
No territory provokes me to fear…
For you, oh Lord are my Shield.
My decision is intact,
In the middle of all that.
I am yours and you are mine
I am safe under the shadow,
The shadow of your wings.
I am secure,
secure in the knowledge that you are working things out all, for my good.
I choose to be positive, upbeat,
To move foward
and to not expect defeat.
I choose to trust and to believe.
You have been faithful,
This mine eyes have seen.
You have been constant,
vigilant for me.
You have protected
me from exterior enemies
And even from mine own disbelief.
You have proven
You will not forget me.
You will not leave.
I have decided
I will follow where ever you lead.
My decision is clear, Jesus is all I need.
