The 3 P’s of Power

I know the plans I have in mind for you, declares the LORD ; they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope.
Porque yo sé los pensamientos que tengo acerca de vosotros, dice Jehová, pensamientos de paz, y no de mal, para daros el fin que esperáis.
There are things we take for granted in this life. Especially nowadays, we don’t think of what would happen if we had no power. No electricity.
I’m sure your local electric company would go nuts if they somehow lost power.
Let’s stop and think of how many things would stop functioning.
From our light switches and lightbulbs, to our cell phones, our hair dryers, our flat irons, our vehicles, our whole way of life would change in a moment of time.
We would not be sure how to get to places without our GPS. We won’t be able to take pictures, unless you happen to have an old battery powered camera. Those things seem obsolete in our ideas of today.
Or how about learning how to navigate with a map. Most people can’t even hold one without having to flip it a few times to get it in the correct position.
This takes me to my first point.
In order to have power, we need to be in the Right position. As with our cell phone reception. Remember when some of us went to camp a couple of years back. We had awful cell phone reception. We could not connect.
Or how about when seeking a job to be noticed for some new job or position, we have to know the one who knows the boss.
Do you get me? Knowing the right people or having the right Network can further a career or a career path. Again this takes me to my first point.
So, for my First Point-
Position, Posicion –
What is your position?
Where do you stand?
Do you know the extent of your energy reserve? Is your power cord connected?
Are you truly sure you are positioned in the right side of this war?
War? What war?
Let’s go to our text-
Can the opposition gain some ground?
Can they take advantage of your posture, your place, Your Lack of Knowledge?
Position – the definition of position is Acccording to Webster –
As for children, obey your parents in the Lord, because it is right. The commandment Honor your father and mother is the first one with a promise attached: so that things will go well for you, and you will live for a long time in the land . As for parents, don’t provoke your children to anger, but raise them with discipline and instruction about the Lord. As for slaves, obey your human masters with fear and trembling and with sincere devotion to Christ.
Don’t work to make yourself look good and try to flatter people, but act like slaves (Servants) of Christ carrying out God’s will from the heart. Serve your owners (leaders, Employers, Teachers, those in authority) enthusiastically, as though you were serving the Lord and not human beings. You know that the Lord will reward every person who does what is right, whether that person is a slave or a free person. As for masters, treat your slaves (workers, those under your supervision) in the same way. Stop threatening them, because you know that both you and your servants (those that work for you) have a master in heaven. He doesn’t distinguish between people on the basis of social status. Finally, be strengthened by the Lord and his powerful strength. Put on God’s armor so that you can make a stand against the tricks of the devil. We aren’t fighting against human enemies but against rulers, authorities, forces of cosmic darkness, and spiritual powers of evil in the heavens. Therefore, pick up the full armor of God so that you can stand your ground on the evil day and after you have done everything possible to still stand. So stand with the belt of truth around your waist, justice as your breastplate, and put shoes on your feet so that you are ready to spread the good news of peace. Above all, carry the shield of faith so that you can extinguish the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is God’s word. Offer prayers and petitions in the Spirit all the time. Stay alert by hanging in there and praying for all believers.
So back to our position,
We have been Made Children of God.
You are all God’s children through faith in Christ Jesus.
All who are led by God’s Spirit are God’s sons and daughters. You didn’t receive a spirit of slavery to lead you back again into fear, but you received a Spirit that shows you are adopted as his children. With this Spirit, we cry, “Abba, Father.” The same Spirit agrees with our spirit, that we are God’s children.
So then, our position is Son and daughter of God. Hey, that’s pretty awesome. We are not just your typical person. No longer are you lost, or one who does not belong. You are Chosen, you have made it to the last round. You are elected. Already a Winner.
Do you know your position.
You have access to God. This gives you power.
As a child of God we have An Authority.
Hey our Heavenly Farher is the the Kings of kings.
In other words. He listens to you and to me when we pray. He acknowledges our thoughts. We matter. We have a voice ans a place in Him, through Jesus.
This is not just some story or good positive thinking. This is the truth of God.
That is way we must take our position seriously. We are to be the justice in society. We are to make a difference. We are to understand that we are more than conquerors. We stand for what is right, good and right in this life.
God has loved you. You were loved before you were even born. Jeremiah 31:3 says God loved you from Eternity. Meaning before you were created. Wow, Some cool position.
My second Point
Some people lack direction. They may not know what track to take, what college course to follow, where they would best work. Some are confused as to why they were born.
Does my life has meaning? Do I matter?
Where, What and How am I supposed to be in this life. God’s word gives us the answers we seek.
You are a voice, a reflection of God in the world. When we come to Christ we become those who are being made into his image on a day to day basis. He is forming in us his image. And we are positioned for Victory. We have the power of God to be witnesses to those around us at work, school, the neighborhood. Everywhere.
Mathew 5:13 -16
Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost its savor, wherewith shall it be salted? it is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out and trodden under foot of men. You are the light of the world. A city on top of a hill can’t be hidden do men light a lamp, and put it under the bushel, but on the stand; and it shineth unto all that are in the house. Even so let your light shine before men; that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven.
The Lord will give us the power to be his witnesses when we know our position.
S. Mateo 5:13-16
We live this life being an example and sharing god’s love. But also we are those who are the Army of God. That’s why we have to put on the Armour of God I spoke of earlier.
We must battle with the forces that press against us. Against our faith. Peer pressure, work pressure, all the things that pull us away from God. Secularism, the wealth of this world. It’s nice to have things but nothing can take the place of our relationship with God.
We have been given a Position of Honor. We have been Adopted as Children of God.
Who have been positioned for the warfare that requires us to know and understand our True Purpose.
To be light. The darkness does not like the light. In the darkness sin can hide. But in the light everything is exposed. We are the light in the world that points others to the Love of God. To their true purpose in this life.
We can also enjoy the light. Being in God’s path means we can enjoy seeing His plan. Being part of his body, other believers and those who love God as we do. We are not alone. We have community of faith. The world will know we belong to God when we show forth his love one to another.
Helping others, sharing the load, the burden of prayer. Coming together to pray, to help to preach, to let others know that God loves them. This is our responsability.
Finally my last point, the third Point,
This means we stick to the plan. We do not give up. We run the race. It is not a sprint run. It is a marathon. It is a place where we have to stay in it to win it.
Those who persevere in Christ will gain the reward of serving the God who is a rewarded of those who seek him faithfully.
Some people create good habits of exercise and eating. Others create good habits in their business and in their relationships.
We must create a habit of living daily this walk of faith. It takes faith, effort, time and determination. We can’t win if we quit.
James 1:2-4, 12
My brothers and sisters, think of the various tests you encounter as occasions for joy. After all, you know that the testing of your faith produces endurance. Let this endurance complete its work so that you may be fully mature, complete, and lacking in nothing.
Those who stand firm during testing are blessed. They are tried and true. They will receive the life God has promised to those who love him as their reward.
Santiago 1:2-4, 12
We are those that will receive a good reward. We will be blessed while here on earth but more so when we are in the presence of God forever.
