No one wants truth. They would rather drown in their self asertions. No one wants to be guided, they want to lead though they have no understanding where they are headed.
Today, we live in a society that desires to invest in self. Society promotes self gratification over all else.
Romans 1 speaks of this very idea. People have become little gods, seekng after their ways…
Romans 1
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness; 19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them. 20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse: 21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened. 22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, 23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things. 24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves: 25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen. 26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: 27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. 28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient; 29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
We sit and enjoy murder in films. We become participants of sexual sins, though we may not be engaged in adulterous relationships physically.
We engage in practices of witchcraft and magic, Even though the Lord’s word forbids us to do this.
We are easy swayed in becoming judges when we watch movies or programs where vigilantes take matters into their own hands.
We are guilty of voyeurism as we watch and are thrilled to experience acts of violence, sex, and such.
We sit and laugh at programs or comedy shows that make light of things God frowns at.
We make laws that legalize drugs for supposed cancer patients. Then we make light of those who use them and become addicted, because somehow it was legalized.
Alcoholism is a terrible destroyer of lives. Alcohol was legalized, glamorized and made to look appealing as a form of recreation. Yes, they still call it ‘Happy Hour’.
Tabacco was legalized and produces respiratory, and other diseases. Now in some states Marijuana is the one of the substances they want to allow to become part of the list of recreational tools, or drugs that is legalized. Sin continues to breed sin and the consequences are devastating.
Sex is glamourized and made to look like the ultimate expression of human satisfaction yet, HIV, STD’S and other sexual ly transmitted illness are minimized.
We dress our children like adults promoting their sexuality instead of their innocence, too soon.
We pervert life for kids as we allow them to partake of crimes in video games and then say it’s okay as long as they are in their rooms safely in our homes.
We allow Satan an entrance to the one place we would not allow a predator or a rapist of murderer to enter in to.
Yet the content of the video games is all, of this and more. Right in the privacy of our own homes we have welcomed sin freely.
We spend much more time worried about our material wealth and less on our priceless treasures.
Psalm 127 states,
3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
Yet by our lack of vigilance we endanger their development and their ability to learn compassion, to develop a character of Kindness and social Awareness of the needs of others. We pervert their thinking by having them participate in violent actions without real consequences, as when they kill in a video game. We promote violence and anti social behaviors by allowing them to be more engaged with technology than with a ball and a bat. Instead of fostering in them a sense of community, we are causing them to learn to escape reality by entering into a world of virtual fantasy.
We will have to give an account to the Lord for how we have led them. Their choices are often related to how we were able to guide then in the truth.
Yes, we are human. Yes we make mistakes. No, none is perfect. Yet the Lord states in Proverbs 22:6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it. We are to seek the Lord and do our best to have them become aware of the truths found I God’s word.
Deuteronomy 6 :1 Now these are the commandments, the statutes, and the judgments, which the Lord your God commanded to teach you, that ye might do them in the land whither ye go to possess it: 2 That thou mightest fear the Lord thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son’s son, all the days of thy life; and that thy days may be prolonged.
Deuteronomy 11:19
19 And ye shall teach them your children, speaking of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, when thou liest down, and when thou risest up.
We are to be aware, vigilant and seeking to be walking in the way of the Lord.
1 Peter 2
9 But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the praises of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: 10 Which in time past were not a people, but are now the people of God: which had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.
Remember we have been chosen to be separate, holy and to shine in this darkened world.
Our children are to be instructed, guided and taught to be different. They are not to follow the crowd. Our responsability to their future and spiritual well being is great. God will require this of us. Let us teach them to be light and to the the salt of the world.
Let us be light. Let us turn from selfish lusts. Let us seek the Lord while there is still time.
Let us teach them the value of community responsability, caring for others, being an example of the love of God to those around them. They must continue in the task of winning souls for Christ. They must grow to fulfill the call of God in their lives. Let’s give them the truth of God and the wherewithal to be equipped with wisdom, compassion and understanding.
Only Christ is the source we can turn to for justice and mercy. Only he can transform lives and restore them. Jesus said He is the way, the truth and the Life. He alone went to the cross to redeem mankind. Only Jesus is the answer for all of life’s questions. Let’s make sure our kids know Him.
We must preach the gospel. He alone is the hope humanity needs. He alone can mend the broken hearted and make all things anew. Let’s let the truth be known.
