2 Corinthians 5:17 – 21

Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new. And all things are of God, who hath reconciled us to himself by Jesus Christ, and hath given to us the ministry of reconciliation; To wit, that God was in Christ, reconciling the world unto himself, not imputing their trespasses unto them; and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ’s stead, be ye reconciled to God. For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

New Creations in Christ, that is what we are. New Beginnings is what we have been given.

The old life, choices and outcomes expunged from the record. We have been given the Spirit of Reconciliation. To mend bridges. Restore the broken. Seek out opportunities to make peace.

Those who have hurt us…

Forgive.

Those who have misunderstood is… forgive.

Those that we broke ties with attempt to heal relationahips.

This does not mean we forgive and forget the pain caused. This does not mean we simply just carry on as usual. What this means is we choose to Let go of the past hurts and move forward in our faith.

We may not continue in that toxic relationship, yet we choose to let go of the hurt and surrender the anger, the hurt, the loss and the bitterness. We choose to let God have this and exchange this all for peace. We consider that ignorance and sin was at the root of the wrong and release our feelings to the Lord.

Miraculously you will see how the memory of the past loses its grip on us. You recognize the person as a pawn being used of the enemy. You recognize that God is greater. The cross is greater. Forgiveness is the medicine that heals us from the past.

Letting Christmas enter in and surrendering all to him allows us to be free to live without shame, guilt, anger and fear.

I can tell you first hand this is true.

The person is no longer a threat. They are in God’s hands. And living life is a blessing not a cumbersome toil.

New Creation, yes free, liberated to serve Christ, to live in the light of his grace and mercy and love. The enemy cannot haunt us with the past when we lay it at the feet of the master.

Christ restores our peace, giving us hope and the joy of his presence fills every void.

Oh be reconciled to Christ. Let go of the hurt, move in faith and trust your today’s and your tomorrow’s are secure. Forgive and surrender. And walk in this newness of life.

And with those who you have abandoned, those whom you have failed. Forgive yourself too.

When possible ask for forgiveness, or make a fresh new start. You cannot expect to live free knowing your actions have hurt another.

Go make peace and allow God to use you to heal the ones you have hurt. Pay back what you owe. Be responsible in your faith walk. God will give you the where withal to make things right. He will give us the strength to make right the wrongs and mend the bridges that were broken. His wisdom and favor is yours and his peace are some benefits of this reconciliation.

We are afforded the wherewithal to be a light, to be a bridge and to leave the past in the past. But we cannot do this if we don’t make ammends. If we hold grudges or do not forgive. We cannot pretend we love God and consciously hold back from someone what is due to them. We cannot be reconciled to God unless we are willing to forgive and put down our pride and go and apologize to the ones we have hurt. We cannot say we love God and leave our responsability and still be indebted to another. How can we shine with the light of Christ if we have taken from another what is theirs. How can we say we live for God and act like the world.

We have been set free for a purpose. We have been set free for a reason. It is not to just be free from our sin. It is also to be an example of a person who is not entangled with sin any longer.

Ephesians 4:28-32, “Let him that stole steal no more: but rather let him labour, working with his hands the thing which is good, that he may have to give to him that needeth. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption. Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.”

Let us live lives that bring God honor. For He has paid an exorbitant price for our salvation. God’s Eternal Plan of Redemption, Reconciliation and Restoration mean s we can live righteous lives for his glory. We can esteem our brother higher than ourselves Pilippians 2:3. Let’s walk this walk not just talk a talk.

Thank you Jesus for the gift of freedom, salvation, hope, new life and the promise of an eternity with you help us to live lives that are worthy of the forgiveness and mercy you have shown us.

Help us to be true believers. True servants, true brothers one to another and be a true witness for the world to see.

Praise The Lord.
