Not What I See… You See Beyond Lord

“But you are not like that, for you are a Chosen People. You are Royal Priests, a Holy Nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for He called you out of the darkness into His wonderful light. “Once you had no identity as a people; now you are God’s people. Once you received no mercy; now you have received God’s mercy.””
‭‭1 Peter‬ ‭2:9-10‬

Didn’t feel much like royalty…
Darkness had flooded my mind…
Didn’t feel like God’s possession…
Felt I had let Him down.
Didn’t feel like I deserved mercy…
Since I’d stumbled and fallen again.
Then that grace, that amazing grace…
That Love, that boundless love…
That memory of the foot of the cross…
That memory of the crimson flow…
That memory of my slate washed clean…
That memory of His arms embracing me…
Lord, how I feel is not the point.
How I fail is not the end.
How I stumble and fall does not move you.
You have loved me with an everlasting love.
You have called me and have not repented.
You have drawn me when I was yet undone.
You have sustained me and nurtured me.
You remind me that I am still a work in progress.
I am but the clay…
The diamond in the rough…
I am still not what I am to be.
You are still fashioning me.

Oh Lord cleanse me afresh… Let my sin be blotted out.
Clothe me in your righteousness.
Increase my faith, that I may trust in you. Help not my shortcomings be, all I see.
I am wounded, broken…
I am needy and I thirst.
Grant me to drink from the living water.
Quench my soul with your presence Lord.
Then I will sing your goodness…
And tell of your love.
Then I will magnify your name. I will proclaim your wonderous works.
Bring my darkened mind the light of your word. Let me see through eyes of faith what you will do.
Help me believe, Believe that You… You, who began a good work in me, will be faithful to complete it.
