Luke 7
12 Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her. 13 And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not. 14 And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise. 15 And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

He had just left one city and as he was getting ready to enter another…
He heard them.
Their wailing and weeping filled the air.
How will she survive some said…
How will she make it.
He husband is dead.
Now her son is gone too…
Woe to her…
Woe too her.

They did not recognize him.
They did not know whom he was.
Their tears clouded their eyes,
Their sadness their minds.

He heard them. He saw them.
But as he looked, he saw her.
She looked frail and weak…
Tired and spent.
She had suffered one great loss. and now another.
He was moved…
The love for her swelled Within Him.
Compassion came forth.
He approached the people.
He looked at the boy they carried for burial.
He spoke and the boy arose.
He spoke and the boy sat up.
His heart began to beat thought it had been stopped.
Death could not hold on to this one…
No, this one was called by the giver of life.
He was summoned to arise.
he was alive again.
Jesus, had restored to her the loss.
He had given her a future and an inheritance.

The woman had no vision of a future before He, had compassion on her.
She had no way of surviving without a spouse and without a son. In those days women were at the bottom of the totem pole. Yet now, Jesus, He had seen the need and filled it.
No, no one had asked anything of Him.
No one had beseeched him on her behalf.
He simply had compassion.

Oh, what a compassionate Savior. Oh how he has taken pity of me. He has restored my soul. He has given me hope for my tomorrows and peace for my today.
He is the Prince of peace. He is the one who meets our needs.

Romans 8:38-39

For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
